El Niño Pez, filmed in Buenos Aires and Paraguay, tells the love story of Lala and her maid Ailín. Their passionate and desperate romantic relationship highlights the intricacies of loving someone from an extremely different social background. Unable to find a place for their love in the classist world they live in, they are pushed to the extreme. This supernatural tale incorporates melodrama and fantasy. The film will be introduced by Dr. Leticia Romo, Department of Foreign Languages. Dr. Romo will lead a discussion of the film afterwards. The Spanish Film Club series was made possible with the support of Pragda, the Secretary of State for Culture of Spain, and its Program for Cultural Cooperation with United States’ Universities.
