JOE CYPRESSI: FORM LIFE

Opening Reception: Thursday, October 18, 7:30 - 9 pm

Towson University MFA candidate, Joe Cypressi creates large-scale organic paper pulp sculptures that incorporate the human figure through both representations of actual body parts as well as the implication of sheltering the body. Representation inherently calls on the viewer’s memory as the subject is identified.   Illusion offers the viewer a transcendent experience as the subject exists only through the reproduction or representation of it. That transcendental action helps us escape into the illusion. The undulating and organic forms provide an imagined world that envelops the viewer.
