Towson University MFA candidate Rachel Timmins presents her interdisciplinary work. Metamorphosis, mutation, comfort and building a place to belong are concepts that feature prominently in Timmins’ figurative work and in how she chooses to live her life. Many of her pieces include shiny surfaces, craft glitter and vibrant colors which are powerful ways of making a spectacle and indicating preciousness. Both the objects and the wearable creations allow the viewer and the wearer to step into the artist’s world. She tries to show how our experiences can consume and change us into something that we never knew we could be.
