Eyemaginations Gains Dogs, Loses Offices after Move from Towson

The new space has no offices.

A company that was based in Towson recently moved to Fells Point, where it has no separate offices and permits dogs to come to work, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.

Previously, Eyemaginations was located in a 3,4000-square-foot space on 600 Washington Avenue in Towson.

In early February, the company reportedly moved to a space in Baltimore City that would reflect its products, which include cloud-based software that allows health care providers and patients to communicate from anywhere.

Now inside the Union Box Company building in Fells Point, the Eyemaginations headquarters contains no offices, requiring people to be out in the open and more collaborative, the Baltimore Business Journal reported.

CEO Smitha Gopal told Technically Baltimore that by moving the headquarters to downtown Baltimore, she hoped to encourage other startups to launch there as well.

In addition, the move reflects the company's evolution.

"We were a different company" than when setting up shop in Towson, Gopal told the Baltimore Business Journal.

When it was founded in 1999, Eyemaginations was particularly geared toward ophthalmology software. But in recent years, it has expanded to offer products including videos for cardiologists and ear, nose and throat specialists, according to Technologically Baltimore, which reported approximately 2,200 physician practices and hospitals use Eyemaginations products.
