Former Raven Gets Probation for Drunk Driving: Report

Bernard Pierce was pulled over in March and cut by the Ravens following his arrest.

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Bernard Pierce, 24, appeared in court Tuesday for charges, including DUI, stemming from a March traffic stop in Towson.

Pierce pleaded guilty but Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Mickey Norman struck that from the record and instead of issuing a conviction, ordered probation before judgment, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Police said Pierce was arrested for driving under the influence on Dulaney Valley Road near Interstate 695 on Wednesday, March 18.

Officers pulled him over for speeding before 2 a.m. because he had allegedly been driving his Ford Mustang 55 mph when the speed limit was 30 mph, according to police.

After he failed field sobriety tests, Pierce was taken to the Towson Precinct for processing, police said.

The pro football player reportedly asked that his DUI be “kept off the books,” according to ESPN, which cited charging documents in which Pierce was quoted as saying: “Do you know what happened the last time a Ravens player got a DUI? I’m getting cut tomorrow, not like you care.”

He was cut by the Ravens the day he received the charges.

Pierce has been playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

As part of his probation through Baltimore County, Pierce will have to submit reports from the NFL’s substance abuse testing provider, pay a $250 fine and foot the bill for court costs, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported Judge Norman said that probation before judgment was standard for a first-time offender.
