Fox Tests Positive for Rabies in Lutherville
Health department was notified Wednesday of rabid fox in Baltimore County, officials reported.

After a rabid fox was found in Baltimore County, authorities are encouraging those who may have been exposed or whose pets may have had contact with the fox to contact the health department.
The fox was deceased when it was found on Northwood Drive at Vista and Tree lanes in Lutherville on Monday, Aug. 31, the Baltimore County Department of Health said in a statement.
The health department learned Sept. 2 that the animal tested positive for rabies, the statement said.

Rabies is a viral disease most commonly transmitted through a bite from an infected animal.
Anyone who may have had exposure to a fox including bites, scratches or licks should get in touch with the Baltimore County Department of Health at 410-887-6011 during business hours or at 410-832-7182 afterward. In addition, people concerned about exposure are encouraged to contact their health care providers for treatment.
