Goucher College and College AIM have announced a partnership that creates supported pathways for Atlanta-area students
to earn degrees at Goucher. On an annual basis, the College will award two full scholarships,
to cover tuition, fees, room and board, to Pell eligible College AIM students. Together,
Goucher and College AIM will provide the support needed for students to thrive on
campus and to graduate. Scholarship awardees will join Goucher’s LAUNCH Network and will receive virtual mentorship from College AIM’s Success Program.
College AIM is a Metro Atlanta college access and success organization that supports
students who have been systemically excluded from higher education. The program provides
college and financial aid counseling to students from ninth grade through college
graduation, and works to dismantle systemic racial and economic barriers to postsecondary
attainment. Since its founding in 2013, College AIM has guided more than 700 students
on their paths to and through college. Collectively, College AIM students have earned
more than $60 million in scholarship and grant offers and more than 80% have continued
onto college.

“College AIM works with talented, passionate students who are ready to contribute
to college campuses across the country. Our students have been particularly successful
at liberal arts institutions, where they are able to explore academia and explore
the world with the support of thoughtful mentors, faculty and programs,” said Dr.
Corey Sheffield, College AIM’s Program Manager for Postsecondary Access. “We’re thrilled
to announce this partnership, because we know that Goucher is a place where our students
will thrive.”
Named one of the best national colleges and most innovative institutions in the country
by U.S. News & World Report, Goucher College is also recognized by The Princeton Review as one of the best colleges in America and a leader in global education and study
abroad. A Goucher education focuses on creating lifelong learners through an interdisciplinary,
global education that requires 100% of students to study abroad. The college’s community
principles are rooted in respect, inclusion, communication, service and social justice,
and responsibility.
“Since its inception, Goucher College has been committed to creating equitable opportunities
for students,” said Jonathan Lindsay, Vice President for Enrollment Management at
Goucher College. Our partnership with College AIM is yet one more example of the college
delivering on this commitment. We are looking forward to welcoming students who have
been mentored by College AIM to Goucher’s campus and to supporting them through our
LAUNCH Network as they pursue an undergraduate degree with us.”
The partners will coordinate Goucher admissions sessions at College AIM partner high
schools in the Atlanta area, and facilitate trips for College AIM students to visit
Goucher’s campus. College AIM students applying for the scholarship will submit applications
by Goucher’s Early Action deadline (December 1st), and, following an interview, will
be notified of their award status. College AIM students who are not selected for the
scholarship will receive admissions decisions with the opportunity to receive other
need and merit-based aid, and continued support through the LAUNCH Network and College
AIM’s Success Program.
