Maravene Loeschke Dies at 68
Former Towson University president resigned over the winter due to health issue.

Immediate past president of Towson University Maravene Loeschke died Thursday, according to university officials. She was 68.
Loeschke resigned in December 2014 to battle cancer of the adrenal gland a little more than two years after assuming the presidency.
A native of Parkville and former Towson professor, Loeschke came to lead her alma mater in 2012 following a stint as president of Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.

“I went to school here, grew up in the neighborhood and now I get at my age to come back here and put all this together in a way that comes full circle,” Loeschke said in 2012 upon assuming the post of president. “It’s a gift to me.”
