Morgan State Student Fatally Stabbed Crossing Street: Police
After a 21-year-old college student was murdered Monday night off Loch Raven Boulevard, Baltimore Police officials ask the public for help.

BALTIMORE, MD — A sophomore at Morgan State University was stabbed to death off campus Monday night in the middle of a busy intersection in northeast Baltimore, according to police. Officials conducted a canvass of the area Tuesday morning in hopes of uncovering a suspect and motive, and they are asking the public to share any information that could help lead to the killer.
Marcus Edwards, 21, of Washington, D.C., was walking on Loch Raven Boulevard at Woodbourne Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he was stabbed in the chest, police said. Edwards was found in the crosswalk.
"We know that there were some people who did render aid," Baltimore Police Chief of Media Relations T.J. Smith said. He noted the intersection was a busy one, and there was a lot of traffic on the road.

Police said there were no indicators that there was anything wrong leading up to the stabbing.
"We don't know what the motive was. At this point, we can't rule out robbery; we can't say it was a robbery," Smith said. "[It] doesn't appear at this time that there was any type of major confrontation that took place prior to this incident occurring."

Police ask anyone to get in touch with them who may have seen Edwards prior to the stabbing, who witnessed the incident or who was in the general area at the time.
"We're searching for answers, we're searching for clues," Smith said. "We really don't have a lot of information on this case."
Police said a murder weapon was not found at the scene of the stabbing, which occurred near the Kensington Gate apartments sign.
Authorities said they do not know where the victim was headed.
Edwards lived in an off-campus apartment. The stabbing occurred about 1 mile walking distance from the Morgan State University campus, and police emphasized that the stabbing was not related to the college.
"It's a disgusting, sad and tragic situation that we're talking about a 21-year-old sophomore from a college right down the road who is the victim of a homicide," Smith said. "Unfortunately, even our school community is not immune to some of the violence that we're experiencing, as that's a microcosm of society..."
He added: "Right now we're just really appealing to the public for help."
