Owings Mills Man Charged in Stevenson Bike Crash

Charges were related to hit-and-run that sent two Towson bicyclists to hospital.

An Owings Mills man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run in Stevenson that sent two Towson bicyclists to the hospital last week, police said.

Rufet Israfilbekov, 74, of the unit block of Allspice Court in Owings Mills, was charged with multiple traffic offenses, according to a report from the Baltimore County Police Department.

Police said Israfilbeko was driving his Toyota Corolla, headed eastbound in the 2000 block of Old Valley Valley Road, when he crossed into the westbound lane, hit two bicyclists and left the scene. The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, according to the report.

The two cyclists—a 35-year-old Rodgers Forge man and a 40-year-old Anneslie man—were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Police said officers found Israfilbeko nearby and took him into custody, and he was later released on his own recognizance.
