Patriot Plaza In Towson To Go 'Green' By 2018
Space near the Baltimore County courthouse will be redesigned over the next year.

TOWSON, MD โ Green space will soon supplant concrete outside the county courthouse in Towson.
This week Baltimore County officials released the final rendering for Patriot Plaza, located between Chesapeake and Pennsylvania avenues.
Towson architectural firm Rubeling & Associates came up with the design for the greening of the area after the county gathered input from community groups โ the Towson Chamber of Commerce, Greater Towson Council of Community Associations and Baltimore County Police Memorial Fund were among them.

Patriot Plaza features memorials to fallen Baltimore County police and firefighters, monuments which will serve as bookends to the space.
"The improvements to Patriot Plaza will make the Baltimore County Police Memorial more visible and accessible, while ensuring that the monument continues to provide a solemn tribute to officers who made the ultimate sacrifice," retired Colonel Dennis Robinson, chair of the Baltimore County Police Memorial Fund, said in a statement.

The county council approved $3 to $4 million for Patriot Plaza improvements in the FY 2017 budget.
Part of the plaza will be reconstructed immediately due to leaks in the infrastructure of a now-defunct fountain, according to Baltimore County.
Work is anticipated to be completed by spring 2018.
