Police Shoot Missing 'Suicidal Subject' Armed With Knife: Officers
Baltimore County Police said they shot a missing "suicidal subject" who refused to drop his knife.

ESSEX, MD — A police officer shot a missing "suicidal subject" who refused to drop his knife in Essex, police announced Friday.
Officers said they were called to the 1000 block of Pine Road on Thursday around 9:30 p.m.
Authorities said they found the person armed with a knife, but he did not comply with orders to drop the weapon.

Police said one officer fired his gun "while attempting to gain compliance" and hit the armed male.
The male was taken to a hospital for treatment, officers said.

Authorities said the officer who fired his gun is on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.
The names of the involved parties have not been released.
"The investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Baltimore County Police Department," the press release said. "The Department will provide additional information as it becomes available."
