Recalled Beef Sold At Towson Store: USDA
One grocery store in Towson was among the markets listed in the national beef recall.

TOWSON, MD — After more than 6.5 million pounds of raw beef products were recalled, the U.S. Department of Agriculture recently identified the businesses that may have distributed the meat. Two were in Maryland, including one in Towson.
Federal health officials said JBS Tolleson beef may be contaminated with Salmonella Newport. The recall includes various raw beef products such as ground beef. Authorities said the beef presents the most serious of health hazards; consuming it could lead to illness and death.
These two businesses in Maryland may have distributed the meat, according to the USDA:

Food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, a common bacterial foodborne illness. Common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within hours or days of eating the tainted food. People can remain sick for up to a week, though most recover without treatment. Some people can become so sick that they need to be hospitalized. Older adults, babies and people with weak immune systems are most likely to develop a severe illness, the USDA said.
The recalled products were packaged between July 26 and Sept. 7 and they bear the establishment number “EST. 267” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the USDA.
