About National Voter Registration Day

It’s a nonpartisan unofficial holiday, which will be celebrated this year on Tuesday, September 24. Organizations and volunteers across the country participate in a voter registration drive aimed at registering voters. In 2018, over 800,000 people across all 50 states registered to vote on National Voter Registration Day.

We Can Help

On September 24, all of our 19 branches and bookmobiles will have staff trained by the Baltimore County Board of Elections available to help you register to vote! Staff can assist potential voters with either the paper application or filling out the application online at one of our public computers, and can also help library visitors update their current registration.

The American Library Association encourages libraries to participate in National Voter Registration Day. Our library is an “instrument of democracy” as our branches provide our communities with a safe, nonpartisan space and are bastions of intellectual freedom, offering open and equitable access to information and services.
