SECU Wins Rouse Excellence in Diversity Award
Maryland's largest credit union is honored for its efforts to achieve workplace diversity and inclusion.

SECU – Maryland’s largest credit union – has been awarded the 2018 James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Award for Midsize Employers by the Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA).
The James W. Rouse Diversity Award is presented annually by CHRA to the local organization which best exemplifies an attitude and environment of acceptance and inclusion.
SECU was selected for the Rouse Diversity Award based on its pursuit of workplace diversity and inclusion. SECU has demonstrated its commitment to promoting a diverse, healthy workplace through human resources efforts in learning and development, talent acquisition, employee onboarding and retention, community outreach efforts, wellness programs, cultural competence, and diversity training.

CHRA’s Rouse Diversity Award was established in 1996 to honor the late James W. Rouse, whose vision of building a better way to live and work through diversity was embodied in the many urban redevelopment programs for which he is known nationally.

The Diversity Award was presented to SECU at CHRA’s Annual Diversity Event, held yesterday at PSA Financial in Hunt Valley, MD. Following the award presentation, Bettina Straight, Organizational Development Consultant at Mercy Medical Center, presented a seminar on diversity, entitled “When Seeing Isn’t Believing: How First Impressions Can Steer Us Wrong.”
