School officials cautioned that there is one topic not up for discussion at the event: the current interim superintendent, Verletta White, who has served in that role since her predecessor, Dallas Dance, retired in 2017. Both have been scrutinized for accepting money from entities outside the school system, and Dance recently pleaded guilty to related perjury charges.
"This forum is not intended to be an opportunity to discuss the current interim superintendent, but, instead, to seek input on the desired qualities of the next permanent superintendent," BCPS said in a statement on its website Monday.
The forum will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, 938 York Road, Towson, MD, 21204. Speakers can sign in from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Each speaker will be given up to three minutes to comment.
