THE MULLAN CONTRACTING COMPLETES RENOVATION OF NORRIS AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIP IN ELLICOTT CITY

Baltimore, MD (February 18, 2014) – The Mullan Contracting Company has completed renovation activities on a new dealership owned by Norris Automotive Group, located at 8525 Baltimore-National Pike in the Ellicott City submarket of Howard County. Last spring, the company acquired the 22,000 square foot building and four acres of land from The Miller Brothers family, with plans to revitalize and re-open the dealership that has been closed since 2008.

Mullan Contracting completed a comprehensive interior renovation of the building that contains an automotive showroom, sales offices, a receptionist area, multiple service bays, repair facilities, a parts room and storage space. Also completed were modernization and improvement work including upgrading the building’s HVAC, lighting and electrical packages, painting and the installation of new carpeting.

Penney Design Group served as the architect and Comprehensive Structural Solutions performed structural engineering work.

“Norris Automotive Group was interested in re-energizing a structure that was not operational for approximately five years, but that previously functioned as an automotive dealership and repair facility,” explained Joseph Rode, President of The Mullan Contracting Company. “A significant challenge was bringing the existing HVAC system up to 2014 standards, especially since it had not be in use for an extended period of time and showed significant wear. On the positive side, the bones of the building remained strong and intact, so our process was benefited by an excellent foundation and basic building structure.”

Norris Automotive Group purchased the property to leverage the on-site buildings in a strategy to expand the company’s automotive operations servicing Howard County and Western Baltimore County.
