Towson Bike to Work Day 2016: Where and When
Bicyclists can meet for freebies and camaraderie in Towson Friday morning.

TOWSON, MD – Hundreds of commuters will hit the road on two wheels Friday during the region's 19th annual Bike to Work Day.
Towson is hosting one of 30 events in the Baltimore metro area, according to the Baltimore Metropolitan Council, which coordinates the occasion at the regional level.
Bikers are invited to meet at Patriot Plaza in Towson Friday morning for giveaways and refreshments.

The Towson event is one of five going on around Baltimore County, which is also hosting Bike to Work Day happenings in Catonsville, Owings Mills, Timonium and White Marsh. It is the county's 13th year participating in the affair.
The annual Bike to Work Day is designed to promote bicycle safety, personal health and clean commuting, as spring is the time when ground levels of ozone rise, making the air harder to breathe; according to regional transportation authorities, cutting down on emissions from vehicles helps alleviate this problem.

“Biking to work is an efficient and fun way to get the exercise you need while commuting to the workplace,” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. “And, biking rather than driving to work can help reduce the amount of vehicle emissions which are a significant contributor to the region’s ground-level ozone problem.

The Towson Bike to Work Day event will be from 7 to 9 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Patriot Plaza by the Towson Courthouse, 401 Bosley Avenue, Towson, MD 21204.
