Towson Commons Welcomes 2 New Businesses

TOWSON, MD — CVS has officially opened at the corner of York Road and Chesapeake Avenue, where local officials celebrated the new addition with a ribbon cutting Friday at Towson Commons.

The new CVS encompasses 9,000 square feet, filled with health and beauty products in addition to a full-service pharmacy. Authorities said that the pharmacy fills a void in the heart of downtown Towson.

"...for those who live, work and visit here, what’s missing has been the convenience of a pharmacy and drug store,” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement.

Previously, the closest CVS locations were 1 mile northwest and 2.2 miles southeast of the heart of Towson.

In addition to CVS, officials said that Chipotle has added its name to the roster of establishments at Towson Commons. The Mexican grill will join LA Fitness, Boho Nation and CVS at the business complex.

The closest Chipotle locations are on Goucher Boulevard near Shoppers and on York Road.

Businesses are moving closer to the heart of downtown Towson as residential opportunities there grow, according to Kamenetz.

"This is a prime retail location with a growing customer base," Kamenetz said of Towson Commons. "Over 3,000 new apartments and townhomes are built or under construction in downtown Towson.”

Towson Mews, The Flats @ 703, The Winthrop, Southerly Square, The Palisades, Promenade, Towson Green, and the 1-million-square-foot Towson Row development are among the residential projects on the books.
