Towson Student Dies Playing Basketball: Report

A 19-year-old Towson University student reportedly died Friday.

TOWSON, MD — A Towson University student died Friday at a hospital after he reportedly collapsed while playing basketball on campus.

Oluwadamilare “Michael” Oyinloye, 19, was a sophomore studying information systems, according to a statement from university officials. He hailed from Odenton and was a resident at Towson University.

He came to Towson from Meade High School, where officials said he played sports and was on the honor roll.

Oyinloye, who friends said was a fan of the NBA, had been playing basketball early Friday night in Burdick Hall when he collapsed and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where The Baltimore Sun reported he died.

Oyinloye was a member of the Towson African Diaspora Club, which is holding a prayer circle in his honor at the Brotherhood Black Male Conference at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
