Towson Student Says Beyonce's Birthday Should be Holiday

Note from student gets on national news, Towson U radar.

A Towson University student reportedly sent an email to her professor Thursday saying she wouldn’t be making it to class because it was Beyonce’s birthday.

“On Sept. 4, 1981, the Lord blessed us all with the Goddess that is Queen Beyoncé Knowles-Carter...Out of respect, I will not be attending class today,” the student wrote in an email timestamped 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 4, published by Buzzfeed.

She closed the email with this: “Have a blessed day and remember, Beyoncé loves you so bow down.”

At approximately 12:30 a.m., the collegian had tweeted that she had a three-page paper due on Thursday, which she hadn’t started, about which she had this to say: “#BlameBeyonce...”

Despite her dedication to the performer, the student had written the email as a joke and didn’t actually plan to send it, according to WUSA 9, which said she tweeted that she meant to save it to drafts, and sent it by accident; she has since deleted the tweet.

She also said in response to negative feedback about her email that she was a straight-A student, CBS Radio reported.

Towson University officials got wind of the buzz and made sure to check up on her attendance.

“Please tell us that you went to class,” TowsonUNews tweeted at the student. “Queen B would want that.”
