Towson University: TU Hosting Vaccination Opportunities On Campus

Towson University students, faculty and staff are invited to get the COVID-19 vaccination
thanks to neighboring UM St. Joseph Medical Center

Towson University, in partnership with University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center,
will host additional, walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the South Campus Pavilion.

The clinics will be hosted at South Campus Pavilion from 4 to 6 p.m. on both September
8 and 29. The site will offer both the Pfizer and single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines
for people ages 18 and older. All vaccinations are limited to a first come, first
serve basis and a parent must be present from registration through observation for
anyone under the age of 18.

As part of University System of Maryland requirements, all Towson University students,
faculty and staff on campus this fall must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Visit
Towson.edu/vaxverify to upload records.

Students who have not been fully vaccinated, provided proof of a first dose or received
an approved medical/religious exemption before noon on Sept. 10 will be disenrolled beginning Monday, Sept. 13. Residential students were not permitted to move-in last week unless compliant with
the mandate.

Faculty and staff who have not been fully vaccinated, provided proof of a first dose
or received an approved medical/religious exemption before noon on Sept. 10 will be
placed on unpaid leave and expected not to report to campus beginning Monday, Sept.
13. Telework is not an option in place of compliance.

This successful partnership between TU and neighboring St. Joseph Medical Center to
combat COVID-19 has been going on throughout the summer with vaccination clinics at
St. Joseph and TU.

“We are so grateful to our partners at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center
for their collaboration in providing this opportunity for our campus community,” said
Towson University President Kim Schatzel, who serves as vice chair on the hospital’s
operating board of directors. “As we look forward to a full on-campus experience this
fall, it is imperative for our Tigers to roll up their sleeves and be vaccinated.”

TU returned to a full on-campus experience last week and classes began on-site Monday.

Thomas B. Smyth, MD, UM St. Joseph Medical Center President and CEO said earlier this
summer. “Keeping TU strong and healthy is our privilege and these clinics will serve
as a huge and vital step in reclaiming our community’s well-being.”
