• New rules, new schools greet students returning to class in Montgomery, Prince George's counties (wtop.com) — Students at Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro returned to class on a newly renovated football field, part of Prince George's County's investment in local schools. The campus also welcomed a new principal who grew up nearby, while countywide changes include stricter cellphone rules and the opening of two new elementary schools.
   

• Watch Live on Sept. 2! Kick Off Labor Day Week with the IAM Union (goiam.org) — Upper Marlboro will host a Labor Day week kickoff rally at IAM International Headquarters on Wednesday, Sept. 2, with in‑person attendance and a livestream option. IAM President Brian Bryant and invited Maryland elected officials will highlight labor's history and recommit to fighting for safer workplaces, better wages, and dignity for working families.
