Local Boy Scout Becomes Council's Youngest to Earn all 130 Merit Badges

Local Boy Scout becomes Council's youngest to earn all 130 merit badges. His accomplishment at age 13, taking places over three continents, is an impressive success story.

Local Boy Scout, Andrew Bonney, received his Eagle Scout Award, capping his quest to earn all 130 merit badges currently offered through the Boy Scouts of America.

From the Horsemanship merit badge on the beach of the Indian Ocean to the Small Boat Sailing badge at Lake Garda in Italy to the Hiking badge while conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, Andrew completed his Eagle Scout requirements and earned all 130 merit badges in just two years and five months.

At 13 years and five months, Bonney is one of the youngest ever to do so. A rare feat by any measurable standard, Andrew’s torrid pace of achievement equates to earning more than 4 merit badges per month.“We are very proud of Andrew’s accomplishment. More importantly, the skills he has learned will help him be prepared for any challenges life sends his way, stated “Les Baron, Scout Executive/ CEO of the National Capital Area Council (NCAC), Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
