Social Media: Friend or Foe?

Social media, whether you like it or not, is here to stay. Even if you don't use it, people post pictures and information about their loved ones every day.

Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace (I know, but they are still around), YouTube, etc. have become a part of our daily vocabulary and life. How many of us truly understand what it means to share our personal information with those we know and those we don't? As Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites continue to grow, are we protecting ourselves properly? Do we understand the privacy settings and how to set them up?

I recently had a stranger try to friend me on Facebook. He was not a friend of any of my friends and his information was blocked. And from the looks of it, we didn't share any interests. I know it may seem a little paranoid, but why open myself to possible hacks or stalking unnecessarily? There are several articles that tell you how to protect yourself or set up your profile to ensure your safety on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Below are a few links to help you secure your profile.
