Business As Usual In Prince George's County Continues!

Business development secrets are spilling out of the cess pool and their Black Hat of Tricks so which county official will be next to fall?

Is There Trouble With RDA Suitland Manor Award? Maybe / Maybe not!

Are federal investigators looking at a repeat of "business as usual" in Prince George's County or possibly potential unlawful or illegal shenanigans in several of the multi-million dollar developments scheduled for Suitland? I'm inclined to say I doubt it in this case but only they and/or The Shadow knows!

Waiting for the other shoes to drop in the federal investigation of Prince George’s County officials, some of us are wondering if charges to come will include some of those officials and staff who awarded a county development project in the old Suitland Manor area to Mission First (Suitland Partners) or those who slow walked to death a senior complex proposed in another section of Suitland. As we have been led to understand, apparently, a deal was cut to “reward(?)” arguably the worst code violation offender in Suitland with a land swap (?) when that business was one local residents reviled above most code violators in the area.

Residents of Suitland are concerned that some county officials appear to be ramrodding or promoting certain development deals, that may be lining their pockets, at the expense of the concerns of taxpayers. These residents live near, in some cases across the street from, not only questionable projects such as an extended stay motel in a residential neighborhood, but also another one that will pack a gas station, townhouses, and a grocery store into a relatively isolated very small area of the community. Residents near Suitland Manor are concerned that, before a shovel of dirt has been turned, instead of disqualifying a proposal, the development award has been made to a building plan that appears on its surface to violate very specific zoning height requirements in the area.

What is going on with these federal investigations of county officials shortly after Jack Johnson was released to a Baltimore halfway house as he completes his time in jail? I don’t have a clue other than that where there is smoke, there is likely to be a fire. I do know that the statement made by President Obama in his farewell speech from Chicago last night seems relevant to current circumstances, “reality has a way of catching up to you.”
