📢 Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed for&nbsp;15 dogs on the urgent list by Tuesday, 5/5.&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go meet and adopt dogs today. They are at full capacity with dogs and need space for more dogs coming in. Please meet and adopt them during adoption hours on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday.&nbsp;Important: See the&nbsp;Animal Services News&nbsp;(below.)
As of 4/30 PM: Up to 15 dogs need adopters and fosters! Dakota may have placement. Check for updates at the Facebook link.&nbsp;&nbsp;
🐶&nbsp;Adopters:&nbsp;&nbsp;Please go to the shelter today between 11am and 7pm,&nbsp;and arrive by 5:30pm or no later than 6pm.&nbsp;Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets. 

New Tip: Adopters of pit bulls and pit bull mixes: Review the new requirements and complete the&nbsp;Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hour)&nbsp;before going to adopt&nbsp;Pit Bull Terriers&nbsp;and specific bully-type breeds. Prince George’s County Animal Services is over capacity, and we need YOUR help more than ever! Volunteers are the heartbeat of our shelter—they walk and train dogs, socialize cats, help with feeding and cleaning, support adoptions at offsite events, and so much more. Without enough volunteers, our animals miss out on the enrichment, love, and exercise they desperately need while waiting for their forever homes.
We have upcoming orientations: Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 5 PM Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5 PM Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10 AM
Teens (14–17 years old) can complete required school service hours (non-animal handling tasks). Adults (18+) can work hands-on with animals after orientation and a facility tour.
