County Snowplows to Deploy at Midnight Monday

With the possibility of sleet and 6 to 12 inches of snow predicted for the area, Prince George’s County will deploy crews beginning at midnight on Monday morning. County crews will concentrate on the primary and major collector roadways first and then will move into the residential areas to plow and treat the roads.

“Weather forecasters are predicting rain and sleet beginning early Monday morning and changing to snow around 3 a.m.,” said Darrell Mobley, acting director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation. “Roadway conditions may become hazardous, and motorists are encouraged to use caution if they must drive.”

County residents are asked to park on the even-numbered sides of residential streets or in their driveways to assist the crews in clearing the roadways. Final plowing on residential roadways will not occur until after the snow ends.

Driveways and mailboxes will have snow in front of them as a result of the plowing operation. Residents are reminded to shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses. 

To report roadway conditions, residents are advised to wait 12 hours after the precipitation has stopped before calling CountyClick at 3-1-1 or the Snow Information Center at 301-350-0500.
