Groups Team Up to Refurbish Home

Mr. Handyman of Ft. Washington and District IV COPS volunteered for Christmas in April, "Rebuilding Homes and Spirits Since 1989"

Six volunteers participated from the local Mr. Handyman along with District 4 Community Police Officers. The captains, PFC Ebony Richardson and OFC Sharon Chambers, the project began in the fall of the prior year and there was a lot of coordination needed to refurbish the house. They recruited several volunteers from their precinct.

The projects that were completed included replacing four steps on the main stairway, refurbishing the garage door, helping to prevent a fall from a carpet wrinkle, repainting two bedrooms and bathrooms, fixing fixtures, providing needed repairs in the kitchen, and the yard was cleaned up.

The Dowlings, owners of Mr. Handyman, have always been active in the community in Prince George's County since living here over 30 years. Now that we own a Mr. Handyman business, we can contribute in another way. We’re proud to live in a county that facilitates and encourages this kind of assistance to those in need.” The Dowlings attribute their ability to provide this service to their skilled and talented technicians.
