Traffic Alert: Major I-95 Lane Closures This Weekend on Capital Beltway
The closures will begin at Friday night and will run until Monday morning, including an 8-hour window three lanes closed.
Get ready for a long trip on Interstate 95 this weekend, or plan a different route.
The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration reported it will temporarily close up to three lanes on the inner and outer loops of I-95 and the Capital Beltway over Ritchie Marlboro Road in Prince George’s County Friday night beginning at 9 p.m.
The lane closures will run through Monday morning, and the SHA’s closure sequence is as follows:

- Single left lane at 9 p.m. Friday
- Two lanes at 10 p.m. Friday
- Three lanes at 11 p.m. Friday
- Two lanes at 7 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday
The SHA also announced it will close one lane in each direction on Ritchie Marlboro Road under I-95 from 9 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, and is advising passengers avoid the area due to expected major traffic delays amidst construction.
