Longer days and warmer weather mean it’s a great time to get outside and see what’s happening around Westminster. Throughout the season, local markets, festivals and community events offer plenty of opportunities to explore, connect and enjoy the best of spring.

1. Hashawha Environmental Center & Bear Branch Nature Center
When: Environmental Center: open dawn to dusk daily; Nature Center: open Wednesdays-Saturdays 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sundays 12-5 p.m.

Get some fresh air with a trip to the Hashawha Environmental Center, a 320-acre park with 5 miles of multi-use trails, fishing at the lake and plenty of local wildlife. On site is the Bear Branch Nature Center, which provides family-friendly nature-based programming and hands-on educational opportunities. Special events run throughout the year, including an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 18.

2. Common Ground on the Hill Concerts

Where: Various locations throughout Westminster, MD
Common Ground on the Hill is a proud folklife center here in Westminster, fostering a community centered around music, arts and education. The venue often holds concerts and monthly jam sessions at Carroll Arts Center (91 W Main St) and St. Paul’s UCC (17 Bond St), and will also host the 55th Deer Creek Fiddlers’ Convention on Saturday, May 30 at the Carroll County Farm Museum (500 S Center St).

3. Westminster Flower & Jazz Festival
When: Saturday, May 9, 2026, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Downtown Westminster, MD
Each year on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, the City of Westminster hosts the Flower and Jazz Festival. The downtown will be transformed into a street fair, featuring flowers and plants for purchase, hundreds of craft and retail vendors, food vendors and live entertainment across three stages. Plus, moms can stop by the City’s tent for a free flower!

4. Downtown Westminster Farmers’ Market
When: Saturdays, 8 a.m.-12 p.m, beginning May 16, 2026
Where: 27 Railroad Ave, Westminster, MD
Start your spring and summer weekends off with a trip to the Downtown Westminster Farmers’ Market, which boasts an abundant variety of fresh produce, meats, eggs, baked goods and more. The 2026 season also features an exciting lineup of family-friendly events, including live demonstrations, animal meet-and-greets and interactive learning opportunities to spark interest in local agriculture.

5. Feet on the Street Summer Concerts
When: Friday, June 5, August 7, September 4, 2026, 6-9 p.m.
Where: Pennsylvania Ave between York Rd and Washington Ave, Towson, MD
Just a short drive from Westminster, Towson will host its Feet on the Street summer concert series, held on the first Friday of each month (June, August, September). In addition to live music and dancing, guests can explore handmade crafts and vintage finds from local vendors.

6. Maryland Wine Festival

Celebrate our state’s wine, artists and natural beauty during the 42nd annual Maryland Wine Festival this June. Explore the farm museum’s grounds, shop from local vendors and enjoy live music while sampling delicious wines. Tickets begin at $40 for general admission ($20 for designated drivers).
