Athen to Lead Skilled Care and Assisted Living at CLV
Is an experienced leader and culture change agent

Michael Athen has been selected as the Director of the Health Care Center and Diven House at Carroll Lutheran Village. He is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and certified Assisted Living Manager with more than four years of experience in long-term care administration.
Michael joins the Village after serving as the Director of Assisted Living Operations for Augsburg Lutheran Home and Village in Baltimore. He grew up in and around the senior services industry in Maryland serving as a volunteer, lifeguard, sales intern and maintenance technician in a various nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities and assisted living and adult medical day care homes.
He will oversee the management of the skilled nursing and assisted living levels of residency at Carroll Lutheran Village. Michael is a strong advocate for person-centered care and has experience implementing culture change and employee empowerment initiatives.

Michael holds a Masters in Management of Aging Services from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, a Bachelors in Marketing and Management, and an Associates in Business Administration from Howard Community College. He resides in Ijamsville with his wife Emily.
Carroll Lutheran Village is an accredited, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Westminster with approximately 700 residents in 398 homes and apartments, 50 assisted living suites in the Diven House and 103 skilled nursing beds in the Health Care Center.
