Carroll Community College Unveils New Mascot

"Relatable, yet ferocious at the same time" is how the student who chose Carroll Community College's mascot described the lynx.

From Carroll Community College: Carroll Community College (Carroll) announces that it unveiled its logo for its new mascot, the Lynx, at a special ceremony September 25 at 12:15 pm in Carroll’s café in front of students, faculty and staff.

After a campus-wide initiative to find a mascot that embodied the College’s character, Carroll chose the lynx earlier this year. The lynx was suggested by recent graduate Ryan Barron of Westminster, who stated that it was “relatable, yet ferocious at the same time,” reflecting the character of the College. Barron also noted that the lynx is a constellation, and that “shooting for the stars is what Carroll is all about.”

Once the lynx was chosen, an internal team was formed to oversee the creation of the logo. Working with Rickabaugh Graphics in Gahanna, OH, the new logo incorporates the College’s colors of blue and white, along with a star as a nod to the Lynx constellation.

“The new logo reflects the bold and wise nature of the lynx,” said Carroll President Dr. James D. Ball. “The origin of the word lynx in Latin is lux, or light, and our mission is to enlighten our students through the rigorous education we offer.”

The new logo will be incorporated into the College’s website and other communications. Apparel and other merchandise with the logo will be available at the College’s bookstore in time for the holiday season. The uniforms for Carroll’s inaugural sports teams will prominently display the lynx logo. Women’s and men’s soccer and women’s and men’s cross-country teams are set to roll out in the Fall of 2019. Coaches and the Athletic staff have been named and current and prospective students are encouraged to express their interest in joining the teams on the College’s website at https://www.carrollcc.edu/Athletics/.
