The Dorsey Scholars Program is the
highest academic honor at McDaniel College. The purpose of the scholarship is
to honor and celebrate outstanding and high-achieving students who will become
future academic leaders and role models on campus at McDaniel. Dorsey Scholars
have distinctive opportunities, including serving as ambassadors of the college. Students do
not apply for the award but are chosen from the Honors applicant pool. Flores
is one of three incoming freshmen for the Class of 2025 awarded a Dorsey
Scholarship.

Diana
Flores is described as a committed, caring, hardworking, and compassionate
student who is dedicated to both her academics and extracurriculars. She is an executive board member for Falcons of
Strength, the Sources of Strength chapter at Winters Mill High School. Sources
of Strength is an international program to prevent youth suicide, violence,
bullying and substance abuse.

Flores was recognized as the 2020 Student Champion of the Year by the Children’s Mental Health Matters! Campaign for her work using social media to connect with her peers to reach out and help them cope with issues like loneliness and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her passion to shine a light on mental health issues led
Flores to be featured on NBC's “TODAY” show. She
is also involved with the Cultural Differences Unite Club at her high Winters
Mill.

The Dorsey Scholars Program is supported by a $6.7 million estate gift from 1891 alumnus Philip Henry Dorsey, the largest bequest for scholarships in McDaniel’s history. For more information about McDaniel College’s Dorsey Scholars Program, visit www.mcdaniel.edu/dorsey-scholars.
