Carroll Lutheran Resident Honored for Volunteerism

Laverne Harden supports philanthropy in multiple ways

(Lisa Albin | Carroll Lutheran Village)

A Carroll Lutheran Village resident has been named a Distinguished Volunteer by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Western Maryland Chapter. Laverne Harden was honored at a luncheon at the Village on June 12.

Described as charismatic, witty, and indefatigable, Harden was recognized specifically for her volunteerism in the Village Corner Gift Shop and for her work to digitize development archives for the philanthropy department.

The award ceremony, originally scheduled for November 15, 2018 in Frederick County, was cancelled due to inclement weather. Harden was one of 22 volunteers to be recognized at the event. Association members instead presented their awards individually at a time convenient to honoree.
