Carroll Lutheran Village to Host World Day of Prayer

Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate the annual World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 3, 2017. Carroll Lutheran Village will host the Carroll County service beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Krug Chapel Auditorium.

The service was written by the women of the World Day of Prayer Committee of the Philippines, who put the focus on Matthew 20:1-16, the parable of the laborers in the vineyard. The service will as the question, “Am I being unfair to you?” while challenging us to explore the economic justice in the Philippines and around the world, as well as our response in light of God’s generosity. Many Filipino women and girls are victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking, are migrant workers or have been deeply impacted by natural disasters.

The ecumenical service, planned locally by Church Women United of Carroll County, includes students from Carroll Lutheran School in Westminster as part of the procession and service.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many cultures and traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday in March. World day of Prayer promotes justice and equality for women through prayer, partnerships, service and celebration. Each year a different country’s committee writes the World Day of Prayer worship service.
