Community Food Pantry Opens in Silver Run

Last year George Perkins of Carroll County Food Sunday announced that the organization was looking for satellite locations around the county to help serve residents living too remotely to take advantage of services in central Westminster.

Brenda Meadows of the Silver Run Community Food Pantry said that a committee was formed at St. Mary's Evangelical Lutheran Church to explore the need in the community of Silver Run.

"Once the need was confirmed, it was determined that this was a fitting way to celebrate our heritage and honor those who have gone before us in our (Silver Run) 250th anniversary year," Meadows said.

The Pantry will officially open it's doors Wednesday, March 7 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

The Pantry will be open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Donations of non-perishable food items will also be accepted.

The Pantry is located in the Parish House of St. Mary’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3978 Littlestown Pike, Westminster. For information and special delivery arrangements call 443-244-0453.
