The Spring Job Fair at the Business and Employment Resource Center (BERC) in Westminster is quickly approaching. This year, there are more than 15 businesses who have immediate hiring needs, with a variety of positions available. Just a few of the businesses that are participating include: Boscov’s, Carroll Hospital Center, Finch Services, Golden Living, Mid Atlantic Contracting, Shelter Systems, CTRL Systems, Inc. and Carroll County Government.
Are you looking for a new opportunity as an Office Administrator? Admissions Assistant? Welder? Electrician? Warehouse, Truck Driver, Software Sales Associate, Cashier, Business Manager??? This is just a glimpse of the positions available with the companies represented at the Job Fair.
With this many prospects, it is important that you are well-prepared for on-the-spot interviews. To assist you in getting ready, BERC has set aside Monday May 19th from 9am to 3pm to assist with résumé reviews, practice interviews and a special Job Club at 1:00pm for “Preparing for a Job Fair”. Services will be offered on a first come, first served basis. No appointments are necessary.

On the day of the Job Fair, follow these tips for success:
· Be prepared! Bring all the information you will need to complete an application in full, bring plenty of copies of your résumé, have questions and answers in mind for each business and position that interests you.

· Be your best! Come dressed in your best, professional attire. Even if the position you are targeting does not require formal work clothes, wear them anyway. Make good eye contact, have a firm handshake, friendly smile, and patience. Practice introducing yourself to others.
· Be a good communicator! Be ready to discuss your skills and qualifications, but also research the companies that are participating so your interest will show. Practice interview questions and what your response will be – and always make it positive, never speak badly about a former employer or co-workers. Turn off cell phones or leave them in the car - the Job Fair should be your top priority on this day.
