Government to People Ratio

The forefathers of the United States of America as a country with a government that should look after the people, and more importantly, fear the people. Thousands of years of sovereign nations, monarchies, oligarchies, emperors, kings, all of them abusing and achieving a stranglehold on their own people. The people feared the government, feared for their lives, and were held for ransom by their own fear.

Our forefathers felt it necessary to achieve balance for the many by creating fear for the few, not a soul quenching fear, but rather an honest fear of being put out of a job if they as civil servants do not create the best for the masses that they govern. That new sense of identity for those 13 colonies created a belief and a strength in Americans that other countries began to envy.

Ingenuity and intelligence were prized alongside of strength. Wars were fought were the Americans did everything they could to avoid war before finally entering into the conflict, often on the losing side, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

Here we live, in an effective police state, our government larger than corporate and private sectors, the anger at the "bottom line" no longer a finger to point at capitalists. The bottom line is now being dictated by the largest employer in the country, and that is the United States government.

The middle class, the sons and daughters of every day heroes, is beginning to disappear, leaving in its wake the rich and the oppressed, those who live on the tax money from those who can afford to pay taxes, and making no move to create or work jobs for themselves.

Not all on welfare are trying to avoid work. There are many that live in areas they can't get out of, where jobs are scarce and employers are mean and calculating. Our unemployment is down because people are giving up, languishing on welfare and losing prime years of their life.

The next step for the government to consolidate their hold on the people is to do with the free-thinking writers that point the finger at the government and criticize the growth that we as people have voted for our future economy. There may be a day where my silly little doodles will disappear, forever.

Government is not meant to make money. It consumes money, and therefore a larger corporate and private sector are needed to support the people and the government at the same time. Yes, we should have laws enforced by the government made so that greedy businessmen do not take advantage of other people's lives.

Yet, if we let the government manage everything because we doubt the goodness of the human spirit, you will find the people and the golden streets of America slip away, and nothing will be left.

Shattered dreams and watered down coffee, spindly torn up chairs that weary workers rest on for a short time before heading home under a gray sky. They live their lives with no hope in a society that will not preach hope.

Still, they call it freedom.
