Holiday DUI Patrols Planned for Carroll County
The Carroll County Sheriff's Office will be checking for drivers who have been drinking or drugging before New Year's Day.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — Deputies will be on the lookout for impaired drivers in Carroll County as 2016 draws to a close. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is holding nighttime DUI saturation patrols Friday, Dec. 30; Saturday, Dec. 31; and Sunday, Jan. 1.
While drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs are the primary focus, deputies say they will be watching for other safety violations on the roads. Extra deputies will be on duty for the patrols.
People are encouraged to plan ahead if their New Year's Eve plans include gatherings where alcohol will be served.

"If possible, arrange to stay at the location, or if you must travel, identify a designated driver before the first sip," the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "Make a plan and stick to it."
A grant from the Maryland Highway Safety Office is funding the saturation patrols, officials said.
