Community Corner

Host Families Needed in Westminster!!

I am the Community Coordinator for a Foreign Exchange Program through Global Friendships.  We have a group of students age 14-17 coming from Spain from July 2-30, 2014.  We have some of the students placed, and still need many homes for them and the group leader from Spain, who is a 25 year old English Teacher.
The requirements for hosting are providing a bed, which can be in a shared room with the same gender child, three meals a day, and transportation to and from classes and excursions.  The meeting place is Westminster Elementary School located at 811 Uniontown Road, Westminster, MD 21158.

We will travel to Baltimore: including a tour of Camden Yards, some time in the Harbor and back to Camden for an O's game.
Philadelphia: Stopping to see the Liberty Bell, a chance to wander through the Lexington Market, LOVE park, and if you dare a run up the Rocky steps!
Washington D.C.: filled with monuments, memorials and museums, this is a great trip!
Annapolis: including a tour of the United States Naval Academy and some time having lunch and walking around beautiful downtown.
New York City: Arriving on the Staten Island Ferry with the famous New York skyline is breath-taking!  We will stop at Ground Zero for the somber 9/11 memorial and hopefully the newly opened museum.  Stroll through Central Park and have some time to take in the incredible views from The Top of the Rockefeller Center before having some time in Times Square.
Hershey Park: Roller coasters and chocolate, water rides, fun, fun, fun!
We will also have an art class at the Carroll County Arts Council will give a photography lesson and then head out on Main Street to use the new skills and take some pictures.
Take a hike at Hashawa before enjoying a planetarium show and share some time together with other American students holding a forum.

Host Family members are welcome and encouraged to join us for any age appropriate events!
It is a wonderful experience for the hosts as well as the student guests!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
