PILGRIMAGE ACROSS ALL FAITHS
Join celebrated documentary filmmaker Leo Eaton in a video and discussion about the various pilgrimages of various religious faiths.
The Universal Search for the Divine (FREE PROGRAM)
Join documentary filmmaker Leo Eaton at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Westminster on Friday evenings 6:30 to 8:30 from April 15 to May 20th, 2016 for a series of screenings and discussions about the commonalities and differences between faith traditions through the practice of pilgrimage, a sacred tradition as old as humanity.
Through 2013 & 2014, Leo Eaton and an international crew traveled to some of the most sacred pilgrimage sites around the world, following American pilgrims from different faith traditions (Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and African Orisa) on six great Sacred Journeys for his 2014 PBS series SACRED JOURNEYS (with Bruce Feiler). In France, India, the Holy Land, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, six very different pilgrimages reveal the universality of humanity’s desire to travel outside life’s comfort zones to seek a more direct connection with the Divine.
Each Friday through May 20, Leo Eaton will screen a different program in the SACRED JOURNEYS series, describe what he and his colleagues learned about themselves and other faiths during the course of the filming, and encourage an audience discussion about pilgrimage, inter-faith understanding, and whatever other topics the films may suggest after the screening. The opening program was April 15 will be HAJJ, the pilgrimage to Mecca all Muslims try to take at least once in a lifetime. It was well attended and enjoyed by all. Please join us ... learn ... discuss ... share.
