Police: Sex Offender Needs To Re-Register

After release from prison, local man is wanted by Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a local man who allegedly failed to re-register as a sex offender after being released from prison.

Gary Wayne Smith Jr., 37, missed the Sept. 20 deadline to re-register with the office’s Sex Offender Registry Unit, the sheriff’s office announced Friday on its Facebook page. They said he “is known to frequent” the Keymar area.

The sheriff’s office did not say why Smith had served time in prison or the length of his sentence. He’s described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
