Weather Decision From Carroll County Public Schools For March 22

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — Public schools in Carroll County will be closed on Thursday, March 22. School officials made the decision Wednesday night. At the time, more than a foot of snow was on the ground in parts of the county.

Schools will be closed for students on Thursday, March 22, according to Carroll County Public Schools.

For staff in Carroll County Public Schools, central offices and school offices will open at 10 a.m., officials said.

News that schools would be closed for students comes after more than a foot of snow fell in Carroll County on Wednesday.

Here are Carroll County's preliminary snow totals from the National Weather Service:

• 13.5 inches in Lineboro as of 4:06 p.m.
• 12.5 inches in Millers as of 4:31 p.m.
• 11.5 inches in Westminster as of 1:30 p.m.
• 10 inches in Lineboro as of 12:15 p.m.
• 9.5 inches in Winfield as of 1:40 p.m.
• 9 inches in Westminster as of 12:30 p.m.
• 7.3 inches in Oakland as of 4 p.m.
• 6.6 inches in Gamber as of 2 p.m.
• 6.5 inches in Eldersburg as of 9 a.m.
• 5.5 inches in Westminster as of 7:30 a.m.
• 3.7 inches in Eldersburg as of 1 p.m.

More Carroll County schedule changes:

• McDaniel College is closed. The is an update from a previous decision to open at noon.
• The Carroll County Public Schools Outstanding Teacher Awards that had been planned for March 21 will now be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at Winters Mill High School.
