Westminster Offers Utility Bill Relief For Federal Workers

From Westminster Government: At the direction of Westminster Mayor Joe Dominick and the members of the Common Council, the City’s Finance Department has suspended residential water service disconnections for utility customers impacted by the federal government shutdown. The Finance Department has also suspended the imposition of any penalties due to late payment of water and sewer utility bills.

Following the end of the federal government shutdown, the City will offer payment plans to assist federal employees needing time to become current on their water and sewer bills. City Administrator Barbara B. Matthews stated, “The City of Westminster recognizes that the federal government shutdown has created a hardship for some of its water and sewer utility customers. We hope that the City’s actions will lessen their burden and stress at this challenging time.”

The City of Westminster provides water and sewer services within its corporate boundaries, as well as areas outside the City. The City bills customers on a quarterly basis, with payment due within 30 days. Penalties accrue if payment is not made within the 30-day period. Service disconnection typically occurs after two additional notices have been sent.
