Westminster Woman Charged in Drug Smuggling
Investigators allege a woman attempted to smuggle drugs into the Carroll County Detention Center.

WESTMINSTER, MD – A Westminster woman has been charged in a plot to sneak Suboxone into the Carroll County Detention Center, officials said Thursday.
Chastity Forney, 38, of the 500 block of Lacosta Circle, faces charges of drug distribution, drug possession other than marijuana, contraband delivery, conspiring to deliver contraband and possessing contraband with the intent to deliver it to a place of detainment.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Forney sent an inmate a package that contained multiple strips of Suboxone. The drug is a narcotic used to treat opioid addiction that has some opioid effects so is sometimes misused, federal drug officials say.

After investigators at the Carroll County Detention Center were made aware of a package sent to an inmate that potentially contained contraband and discovered it had concealed within it the Suboxone strips, they traced it to Forney and obtained a warrant for her arrest, officials reported.
Court records show the offenses allegedly occurred on Wednesday, March 23, and a warrant for Forney's arrest was issued on Wednesday, March 30. On Thursday, March 31, she reportedly had posted bond and was released.
