Workshop to Help Families with Special Needs Planning

Learn about planning for the future of an individual with special needs at this free workshop.

Carroll County Partners for Success will sponsor a special needs planning workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Carroll Springs School cafeteria.

This free workshop is designed for parents, professionals, and community partners. The presenters will be Monty Knittle, Chartered Financial Analyst, and Jim Curran, Certified Financial Planner.

Planning for the future of an individual with special needs requires preparation, careful research, and experienced guidance. While each family’s situation is different, most financial and estate plans center around these primary objectives: protecting the assets of the individual with special needs, providing additional income to facilitate a better quality of life, overview of special needs trusts, balancing the needs of other family members and beneficiaries, and preventing the loss of government benefits, including Social Security. The presenters will also define and explain pooled trusts, letters of intent, selecting trustees, and means of funding special needs trusts.
