• Maryland buys 15 acres near Appalachian Trail, South Mountain State Park (localnews1.org) — State officials have approved funding to upgrade the Rubini Athletic Complex at Wheaton Regional Park, bringing improvements to sports courts, parking, roads, utilities, and lighting that Wheaton residents regularly use. The project is part of more than $9 million in statewide land and recreation investments, including new parkland near the Appalachian Trail and facilities in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.
