After almost 2 years at the Wheaton Westfield Shopping Mall, the last day for the very popular Wheaton Outdoor Market is Sunday, September 30. The market management has been requested by Wheaton Westfield Shopping Mall management to close the market so that they can provide additional parking for the Costco store that will be opening in October. This outdoor market has provided an opportunity for many Montgomery County residents and non-residents to buy, sell and swap many household items, jewelry, tools, antiques, crafts, electronics, furniture and other useful and collectible items. Also, it has been for some an opportunity to start a small business and a job for others. It was requested that this market be relocated on Sundays to parking Lot 13 across from the Mid-County office building in downtown Wheaton, but the use of this lot which is vacant for the most part on Sundays was denied by the Montgomery County Parking Lot District. The market management is planning to relocate this market as soon as it can find a suitable space.
