Car Involved in Hit-and-Run in Rockville Drove to Wheaton, Dropping Parts

Police looking for silver Mercedes in early morning accident.

Update, 5:30 p.m.

Police have released photos of the silver Mercedes (see right), after the driver turned himself in at 11:35 a.m. this morning. Police are not releasing the drivers' name or the location the car was found at this time.

A silver Mercedes hit a motor scooter near the 12700 block of Veirs Mill early this morning, and Montgomery County 1st district police and fire and rescue personnel responded at 12:13 a.m.

The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene and was last seen turning onto Parkland Drive.ย

Detectives from the Police Collision Reconstruction Unit have since found parts from the car at the intersection of Connecticut and Weller Road, leading them to believe the car drove there afterwards.

The two men on the scooter were identified as 19-year-old Mario Claros Hernandez, of the 5000 block of Aspen Hill Road, and 16-year-old old Noel Hernandez Mendoza, of the 12800 block of Evanston Street in Rockville. Hernandez is in serious condition and Mendoza remains in critical condition.
